FREMONT, CA | FEBRUARY 7, 2012

New Soraa LED MR16 Built on Breakthrough GaN on GaN Technology Is Superior to Halogen

Soraa, the world’s leading developer of GaN on GaN – gallium nitride on gallium nitride – solid-state lighting technology, today announced the launch of its flagship product, the Soraa LED MR16 lamp. The new product is the first LED lamp to provide superior performance to a traditional halogen MR16. It is also the first LED lamp to provide halogen-equivalent brightness without requiring a mechanical fan and payback within months, not years. The Soraa LED MR16 lamp based on GaN on GaN technology represents a revolutionary breakthrough in lighting technology: LED 2.0.

Founded by Shuji Nakamura, Steve DenBaars, and James Speck, Soraa leverages decades of expertise from the father of modern LED lighting, Shuji Nakamura, and preeminent solid-state lighting experts from the University of California, Santa Barbara. The company is headquartered in Fremont, CA, where it houses the world’s first GaN on GaN light-chip fabrication facility and their lighting products design lab.

Soraa’s proprietary GaN on GaN technology yields the highest-performance LED MR16 lamp the market has to offer. Soraa’s pure GaN crystal is up to one thousand times purer than GaN on sapphire or GaN on silicon carbide substrates, the platforms other LED lighting technologies rely upon today.

“Our technological foundation enables Soraa products to emit more light per LED material and handle more electric current per area than competitors, providing the highest quality light that makes for a perfect, more energy efficient replacement for traditional halogen lamps,” said Soraa CEO Eric Kim.

The company’s flagship product, the Soraa LED MR16 lamp, available first to commercial customers, is priced to achieve less than one-year payback. The company chose the MR16 format because it has been the most difficult LED lamp to do correctly, given its small size and intense, high quality brightness requirements. Soraa’s GaN on GaN MR16 is the first LED to rival the traditional 50W halogen. Its perfect crystal structure delivers a bright, highly-focused, controlled beam with the ability to produce a high color rendering index and center beam candle-power to match a standard halogen lamp. Soraa’s efficient thermal design also delivers halogen-equivalent performance without requiring a mechanical fan. The lamp’s elegant, single-source LED design provides crisp object definition with solo shadow, uniform color and a perfect beam pattern. Additionally, the Soraa LED MR16 lamp features optimized electrical design for total compatibility, making it suitable for use with all common transformers and dimmers, both indoors and outdoors.

“I've been searching for a long time for a quality LED to replace an MR16 halogen. Soraa's lamp is a quantum leap over what is currently on the market, offering brighter light, dimmability, long lamp life, as well as dramatically improved energy efficiency,” said Randall Whitehead, a leading U.S. lighting designer. “Soraa’s is not only the first LED MR16 I’ve found that outperforms halogen lamps, it’s simply a best of breed product.”

Led by CEO Eric Kim, who brings deep technology and brand development leadership from his tenure at Intel and Samsung, Soraa is backed by over $100 million in funding from Khosla Ventures, NEA, and NGEN Partners.

“Lighting affects the way we see the world, and good light can make anything more compelling,” said Co-Founder Shuji Nakamura. “At Soraa, we are proud to create efficient lighting products that do not compromise on performance, offer the highest quality available and greatly reduce energy waste. We believe that with GaN on GaN, we have truly entered the next chapter in LED technology: LED 2.0.”

	ABOUT SORAA

Construction to start this year on Mexico's largest concentrator photovoltaic power plant

SAN JOSE, Calif./SANTIAGO, Chile, October 14, 2011 – EnorChile and SolFocus today announced two Concentrator Photovoltaic (CPV) pilot plants, bringing solar CPV technology to the country for the first time. The high-efficiency solar systems enabled by CPV are capable of converting the most sunlight to electricity possible in sunny environments today. The first pilot where the system is being unveiled today is at an EnorChile facility in Santiago. The second pilot plant to be deployed in the next few weeks is located at a mining facility in Calama. The systems together provide 17.6 kilowatts (kW) using the SolFocus SF-1100S CPV systems.

"We are proud to be showcasing the first CPV pilot plants in Chile with SolFocus," said Rodrigo Sáez Rojas, CEO of EnorChile. "We look forward to continuing our partnership with SolFocus on future projects that will provide Chile with reliable, clean power."

SolFocus' CPV technology can provide clean, reliable electricity to the mining, agriculture and other industrial sectors in Chile. Because of Chile's strong solar resource in the North – the best solar resource in the world – this region is ideally suited for CPV technology, where the high conversion efficiency of sunlight to electricity is exceptional due to the high-solar resources.

Reduced complexity of eIQ Energy’s Parallel Solar technology allows 1.2-megawatt photovoltaic system to be completed with significant labor and material savings

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 14, 2011 – eIQ Energy, Inc. announced today that Granite Construction Inc. (NYSE: GVA) has commissioned a new 1.2-megawatt solar system at Granite's aggregate and hot mix facility in Coalinga, Calif. The photovoltaic array – which includes eIQ Energy’s vBoost DC Parallel System – is believed to be the largest completed solar electric generating system to use distributed power electronics.

Granite Construction selected eIQ Energy's vBoost DC Parallel System to boost the output voltage of copper indium selenium (CIS) thin-film solar modules from Solar Frontier to the optimum level for the array’s central inverters, supplied by Siemens, which feed solar energy into the power grid. The installation is expected to offset up to 50 percent of the Granite facility’s total energy requirements.

eIQ Energy's Parallel Solar technology allowed Granite Construction to achieve significant labor and material savings by eliminating much of the wiring, combiner boxes, and installation costs required by traditional series-wiring architectures. Those savings are expected to more than pay for eIQ Energy’s part of the solar system.

"This project is the largest demonstration of the cost benefits of using distributed electronics to connect solar modules in parallel," said Oliver Janssen, chief business development officer for eIQ Energy. "The eIQ Energy solution was less expensive to install than a comparable series architecture. Our vBoost DC Parallel System also provides long-term operational benefits by minimizing the effects of shading, soiling, panel mismatch and other issues that can reduce the electricity output of panels wired in series."

"We're pleased by the results of using eIQ Energy’s technology," said Sean Kilgrow, Granite Construction's director of renewable energy business development. "The economic benefits of their parallel architecture made this project more affordable for us to build renewable energy capacity at our facilities here in California."
Hycrete’s admixtures were one of the first Cradle to Cradle CertifiedCM building products, originally certified at the Silver level. Hycrete has worked closely with MBDC (McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry) to assess all materials for impact to human and environmental health, and evaluate manufacturing processes for use of renewable energy, water stewardship, and social responsibility. As a part of the continuous improvement process required by the certification program, Hycrete has dramatically advanced its products, manufacturing, and operations, and has earned Cradle to Cradle CertifiedCM Gold, one of the most stringent sustainability certifications in the world.

“We are honored to have reached Gold after undergoing a rigorous review process and implementing a series of targeted improvements with help from MBDC,” said Richard Guinn, Chief Executive Officer of Hycrete. “In addition to helping to maximize concrete durability and extend the structural life of buildings and infrastructure with the Hycrete technology, we wanted to make sure we were doing everything we could to create products that could be safely disassembled, recycled, and repurposed, and to manufacture them in an environmentally and socially responsible fashion. The Cradle to Cradle® design framework is comprehensive in nature and is Hycrete Achieves Coveted Award of Cradle to Cradle Certified – Gold setting the bar for responsible product design and production and its expanded use by the USGBC and other certification organizations is helping to make it the de facto standard within industrial design.”

The Cradle to Cradle CertifiedCM program was developed by MBDC, a global consultancy and certification firm that helps clients create a positive footprint on the planet by implementing the Cradle to Cradle® design framework. “Hycrete was an early adopter of the Cradle to Cradle design principles and has become a leader in rigorously implementing a program of continuous improvement. Hycrete is setting the standard for manufacturers with respect to social and environmental responsibility,” said MBDC founding principal and TIME magazine ‘hero of the planet’ William McDonough.

“Cradle to Cradle® has been an important influence in the development of our products and we look forward to its continued expansion in industrial design, especially within the construction industry which is responsible for a large portion of the global human footprint,” added Guinn. “At Hycrete we believe it is important to not only build to last, but to do so in a manner that enables future generations to do the same. We are excited to see this trend continue.”

{summary}

ATLANTA (October 5, 2011) – DIRTT Environmental Solutions is a finalist in the 2011 Excalibur Awards, Mid-Sized Companies Category, for its use of ICE® 3D design and specification software.

The announcement was made by the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) in collaboration with its Business and Technology Alliance society (B&TA). TAG is the state's leading association dedicated to the promotion and economic advancement of Georgia's technology industry.

TAG's Excalibur Awards recognize companies in Georgia for their high-tech innovations, based on the complexity of the problem that was solved technologically, the creativity of the solution and the return on investment (ROI). DIRTT is an award-winning modular wall manufacturer that uses ICE software in its Savannah manufacturing facility. ICE is patented Java-based configuration software created by DIRTT subsidiary Ice Edge Business Solutions. ICE uses 2D and 3D graphic communication to envision, design, specify, price, manufacture and deliver any product open to modification.

One of ICE's integrated features is a reconfiguration tool called ICEcycle. ICEcycle acts as a product lifecycle management tool; it captures all elements from an existing interior modular layout and inventories, sorts, locates and defines each part available, all in real time. Just like the rest of ICE, all information is updated graphically and instantaneously. ICE vastly improves the precision, speed and custom abilities of DIRTT's manufacturing and installation processes while maximizing use of all pre-existing parts in an interior redesign.

"We received a record number of entries for this year's awards program and it was a challenging decision process to choose from so many great entries. So our finalist companies are shining examples for the community about how businesses can grow and thrive through the creative use of technology," said Tino Mantella, president & CEO of TAG.

"We are thrilled to be recognized by TAG and the business community for our use of ICE technology," said Mogens Smed, founder of DIRTT Environmental Solutions. "DIRTT could not be the success it is today without the ICE technology platform. It's a vital part of our world; with its use we are able to achieve true sustainability in all levels of our company."

Winners will be announced at the Excalibur Awards 2011 ceremony on October 21, 2011, at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel. For more information about TAG and the Excalibur Awards, visit http://www.tagonline.org/excalibur-awards.php and for more information on DIRTT, visit www.dirtt.net.

“We are thrilled that wireless lighting controls, and Adura’s award-winning system in particular, are being recognized as the advanced energy savings solution that they are,” said CEO of Adura Technologies Mark Golan. “Creating smarter buildings will continue to be a key component of the green technology innovation playing field, and we greatly appreciate the recognition of Adura’s leading role in this space.”

Lighting and HVAC are the top two energy users in most commercial buildings, typically representing 60 percent or more of the total energy use. Adura’s wireless management platform addresses both energy uses and could result in savings of up to 70 percent. It can also relieve strain on the electrical grid during periods of high use – a key goal of Smart Grid implementation.
